Ash Tyler is in charge of this project. Master Gardener Volunteers work with young offenders from 10 to 16 years of age. The children are sent to work with the Master Gardeners either by a Juvenile Court judge or from a mock trial of their peers, for offences committed at school. Those who come from Juvenile Court are required to work to pay off fines levied by the judge. The hours are from 8 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturdays. The children work with in the greenhouse or outside, supervised by Master Gardener Volunteers. If you would like to volunteer to help with this program, just show up at the Extension Office on a Saturday morning before 8 a.m. Other Master Gardeners will be on hand to show you what is required. |
