Monthly Meeting Minutes

The meeting was called to order by President Richard Boland at 9:05. There were 46 in attendance.
The minutes of October 23, 2007 were received as information.
Richard thanked Bill Finley and Cathie Rod for providing the refreshments for the meeting.
Officer Reports:
V.P., Shirley Waggoner-Eisenman asked for more volunteers for the 08 State MG Conference. Program ads, sponsors, door prizes, decorations and possibly a silent auction are some areas needing volunteers. If you are interested in helping, please see or contact Shirley.
Treasurer, Allen Smith handed out copies of the budget. Expenses may appear high because of the purchase of plants for the 08 plant sales and also the loan of $1,000
to the 08 MG State Conference. There is also an outstanding receivable of $9 -10,000. This should result in a carry over for next year of approximately $12,000 to$14,000.
The 08 budget will be changed to show income, expenses and profits. Al stated he has heard from many committee chairs in regard to the budget for 07 as well as the needs for 08. He also stated he would accept dues for 08.
Greenhouse, Ash Tyler reported that the Restitution program funding for 08 is in committee at present and will probably be approved.
Coordinator, Charlie Spencerasked all to sign up for the Holiday party to be held December 13. He also asked that members bring canned goods for the Family Assistance program on that day.
Charlie reminded everyone to update their time sheets with totals and give running totals if there is more than one sheet.
Many volunteers are needed for the 08 MG State Conference with work on many of the committees beginning the first of the year. The Festival of Lights will need volunteers for set up right after the Holiday party on December 13 and workers on the 13 and 14 in the evening during the event. Help will be needed in the garden with planting bulbs Tuesday, Dec. 4 at 8:30. Charlie passed a sign up sheet.
There may be 2 new classes beginning in February depending upon interest. If you know of anyone wishing to attend, give the name and pertinent information to Betty or Gina. There will also be information in the local newspapers. Charlie mentioned David Barkley is doing well and should be back in the office in January. He also mentioned there were good articles and pictures in local papers about the Life on the Farm program which will be put in the historical booklet.
Holiday Social, Becky Dus passed out sign up sheets for help at the December 13 party.
Nominating Committee: Bev Mastrovich stated Joe Loughlin and Dominique Loewenstein will be the nominating committee for 08. The slate of officers was presented as: President - Shirley Waggoner-Eisenman, Vice President Ð Grace Wrigley and Treasurer Ð Al Smith. Jim Meyer made a MOTION that the slate of officers presented by the nominating committee be accepted by acclimation which was seconded by Bill Finley and unanimously approved. Richard Boland inducted the officers into their respective office with congratulations and good wishes to all.
The meeting was adjourned following a program by Dick Bir on native and exotic plants for you.
