Monthly Meeting Minutes

President Richard Boland opened the meeting at 9:05. There were 40 members in attendance. Thanks to Ann Marie Bellamy and Sue Fogle for refreshments.

The minutes of October 26 General Meeting were read and received as information. An addition was made that the lighting demonstration was done as scheduled.

Announcements:
Vicki Kay has information on Al Powell's new address if any one wishes to get in touch with him.
Richard Boland reminded members to turn in receipts to the treasurer when furnishing refreshments for the meetings. He also thanked Shirley Waggoner-Eisenman and her committee for the great job everyone did to make the Reunion Social such a success.

Officer Reports:
V.P., Shirley Waggoner-Eisenman stated the January guest speaker will be Bill Cline talking about blueberries and grapes. She mentioned the Corresponding Secretary sends thank you notes to all speakers as well as notes of remembrance to all members.

Treasurer, Linda Lemieux gave the treasurer's report which was received as information. Balance of the treasury is $10,846.48. Dues must be paid by January 2, 2007. Copy is attached.

Committee Reports:
Budget Committee representative, Ann Marie Bellamy submitted the final proposed 07 budget with explanations. Two items added to expenses are for the Membership Committee and the Historical Committee. There is also an increase in the reimbursement to members for refreshments at general meetings to $50. She has been advised by an accountant that a non-profit organization may carry over the amount of one year's budget to the next year. A MOTION was made by Barbara McCoy to accept the budget as presented, seconded by Dominique Loewenstein and after discussion, the motion carried.

Coordinator, Charlie Spencer: Botanical Garden is progressing well. Please bring a food item to the Holiday Social for the Brunswick County Family Assistance Program. Invitations are being sent today. Help is needed to prepare for the Commissioners' visit. All members are advised to get their time sheets up to date. Volunteers are needed for the Poinsettia and Luminaria festival on Tuesday, the 19th of December from 4-6 p.m... Charlie will forward information to all members.

News Letter editor, Becky Dus was thanked for her work over the past 2 years. Joe Loughlin was introduced as the new NL editor. Joe's email is jloughlin@ec.rr.com. Joe feels the more articles submitted the better the NL will be.

Horticultural Agent, David Barkley thanked all members for their volunteer hours to the organization. He gave updates on the Rain Lilly project and suggested that we get soil samples in now. Through David's effort, 100 poinsettias are being donated to use at the Holiday social and the Poinsettia and Luminaria festival.

Gardens, Hilton Holcomb requested more volunteers to help in the gardens and with the hard scape projects. Hilton stated the same few people are doing all the work all the time. He asked all to take ownership of these and all MG projects.

President, Richard Boland suggested a trip to J. C. Ralston Arboretum and Plant Delights in Raleigh. No date suggested.

Special Orders:
Policies and Procedures: Since a copy of the Policies and Procedures was not e-mailed to all members, Shirley Waggoner-Eisenman made a MOTION to table the discussion and approval of the Policies and Procedures until the January meeting. The motion was seconded by Dominique Loewenstein and was carried. If any member has any comment or question, e-mail Richard before the January meeting at rboland@atmc.net.

Election of Officers for 2007: The slate of officers was presented by Lynn Schwartzkopf. President - Richard Boland, Vice President - Shirley Waggoner-Eisenman and Treasurer - Allen Smith. Joe Loughlin made a MOTION to accept the slate of officers as presented which was seconded by Lynn Schwartzkopf and the motion carried.

The meeting was adjourned following the program by Ozzie Coor.
