The meeting was called to order by Vice President Shirley Waggoner-Eisenman at 9:10.  There were 36 in attendance.

The minutes of May 24 were read and a motion to accept was made by Dominique Lowenstein and seconded by Al Smith.

Treasurer, Al Smith stated there is currently $8,625.10. There will be substantial funds added from outstanding accounts receivable. Al asked all members to submit any outstanding receipts for payment. The report was filed for audit (received as information.)

Vice President, Shirley Waggoner-Eisenman stated the invitations to the State MG Conference should be received the beginning of July. She encouraged all to register quickly as tours may fill up quickly. Information for this event may be found on 2 web sites which were designated on the meeting agenda form.
The previously listed dates for the BCMGVA fall plant sale are being changed to October 4, 5 and 6th to not overlap with the State MG Conference.

Greenhouse, Ash Tyler stated there would be a summer plant sale on Friday, July 13 from 9-5 and Saturday July 14 from 8-12. This sale is for the government employees and the BCMG. Plants on sale will be ones that will not carry over well for the fall sale. A plant give away was held at the end of the meeting.

Newsletter, Joe Loughlin would like all articles for the July NL as soon as possible.
Joe is also working on membership cards and should have some at the next membership meeting.

Coordinator, Charlie Spencer has the new class e-mails in the system for dissemination of all information. He asked that 4-6 new members sign up at a time to learn the procedures of the Hot Line office. Once the new class members have fulfilled one volunteer time on the Hot Line, they will receive their MG name tags.
Look for dates for volunteer time for Life on the Farm to be held in the fall.
Day lily trip was successful and for future trips people should remember to bring plastic grocery bags as an easy way to carry clumps of purchased lilies.

Horticultural Agent, David Barkley asked all to notice and enjoy the new tropical garden out front of the Extension offices and thanked Jim Blake and Hilton Holcomb plus all who worked to turn this area into such a lovely spot.
David stated Greensboro would be the site of the 2008 National Ag Agents meeting. He will be needing volunteers to help host Ag Agents children at a beach outing on July 19, 08 – to please keep this date in mind if you might be available.
David has not been able to get more information from Peter Hertyl, but the ground pearl project is still on going. Please continue to collect specimens and David will give more information on what and how to collect as soon as it is received.
A Cooperative Extension Service new initiative is to collect information - an environmental scan. Members were asked to fill out a questionnaire that will be used for a report due in August.

BCMGVA member Linda Rudick asked for volunteers to help with landscaping of homes built by Habit for Humanity. Three homes are built each year and there is a limited budget for landscaping. Charlie mentioned this is not a project BCMGVA can take on, but members may volunteer on an individual basis. BCMGVA name tags should NOT be worn. These work hours can be logged on your BCMGVA time sheet. If interested call Linda at 910-575-0804 or e-mail her at jeffrudick@hotmail.com.

Our guest speaker for July 26 has changed to Bruce Williams. He will speak on mixed garden topics similar to his TV program.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:45 followed by a plant give away and a program from Lucy Bradley, Urban Horticulture Specialist and the Recognition Luncheon.

Respectfully submitted,
Cathie Rod, Recording Secretary
