The meeting was called to order by President Richard Boland at 9:10. There were 22 members in attendance. Thanks to Linda Rudick and Dominique Loewenstein for refreshments.
The minutes of the May 25 meeting were read and approved with a correction to numbers of hours needed to remain as certified MG being 40 - 20 hot line and 20 in other areas.
Richard Boland: Shared 3 thank you notes from Hurricane Katrina damaged MG recipients who received funds from BCMG. All appreciated our help and thoughtfulness.
Shared many thank you notes from students and teachers at Shallotte Elem. School for the program BCMG did in March and April.
Sign up sheet for trip to day lily farm passed - leave from extension center 8:00 am on 7/5.
Shirley Waggoner-Eisenman: Has a written report of SE Regional Conference where
BCMG were acknowledged for work they do.
Reunion social set for 11/10 at Extension Center from 1-4. Next committee meeting is 7/10. Still need information for class of 1996. Call Shirley if you can help.
Shirley can offer information on the State Conference at Kill Devil Hills in October and
mentioned the International MG conference in Little Rock, AR May 2-5, 07.
Next month the speaker is David Nash on dunes.
Linda Lemieux: Current balance in treasury is $23,787.37. Copy of report is attached.
Charlie Spencer: Volunteers needed to help Al Hight with on-going nematode control project at
Holden Brothers' Farm. Begins 6/29. See Charlie if you can help.
A possible deer repellent fertilizer- Milorganite-can be purchased at Wal Mart. If you use,
give feed back on results.
Hilton Holcomb: Thanked all who worked on hard and landscape in Botanical Garden. Pond tour not well attended, but BCMG considered the best stop. More help is needed for drainage and irrigation projects. Bottles containing Roundup will be provided to volunteers for weed control.
Ash Tyler: Two new, easier to operate, tents will be purchased for all MG events. Restitution
program funds originally scheduled for additional storage facility will be use for soil, seeds, plants and pots.
New Business: Suggestion made to move recognition plaque to location in foyer of Extension
Center or other prominent location.
The meeting was adjourned following a presentation by Dr. Jeannie Davis on herbs.
