There is a possible trip to the Spring Southern Home and Garden Show in Charlotte the week of March 1-5, 2006. More information will be offered and those wishing to attend should see Richard or Charlie. An admission price break will be given with 20 attendees and the van use with 12 attendees.

The BCMG association will due a series of lessons on March 21 & 22, April 11 & 21 and April 25 & 26. The K-2 grades will be headed by Nancy Einbinder and the 3-5 grades will be headed by Charlie. Children will learn about propagation, the effects of light, moisture and soil on plants, and composting. Nancy and Charlie will have future meetings for members wishing to be volunteers. Charlie hopes other Brunswick schools can have this type a program and use this to replace Life on the Farm.

Volunteers are needed to pot bare root plants at the greenhouse. Members were reminded to volunteer for the Hot Line and PAY DUES.

David Barkley is traveling to Raleigh on 1/30/06 to meet candidates for the position of Consumer & Horticultural Specialist. Filling this vacant position will greatly benefit all extension agents and MG associations.

Leland Industrial Park Pro Days on February 15 & 16 and the Brunswick Isle Home & Garden show on March 25 & 26 will need MG volunteers.

Shirley Waggoner-Eisenman, Vice President presented the proposed MG 06 operating budget which had been approved at the board meeting. Copies were provided to all members. Carry over funds of $8,166.91(because of minus expenses and more profits from fund raisers) minus $4,000 in reserved funds will be placed in contingency funds for 06. The total of income $24,920.91 equals estimated expenses and projects. Some line items were deleted and titled more accurately, a reunion will be held in the fall to include all past and present BCMG with 400 possible attendees and the donation of $1,000 to Louisiana and Mississippi ($500 each) for the destruction caused by hurricanes in 05. Shirley moved that the proposed 06 budget be approved as presented and seconded by Hilton Holcomb. A question was asked concerning the funds listed for the BCMG Botanical Garden. Funds have been specified for identification and maintenance of this area and not for maintenance of the County Complex Clarification was asked on the total monies listed on the expense page and the total monies listed on the project page. The motion to adopt the 06 budget as presented was approved.

Guest speakers for future BCMG monthly meetings were mentioned.

Dan Sokoloski spoke of meeting Nancy Lehto. He felt she is doing remarkably well and we all wish her the best for her further treatments.
