The meeting was called to order by President, Richard Boland at 9:00. In attendance: Richard Boland, Shirley Waggoner-Eisenman, Charlie Spencer, Ash Tyler, Al Smith, Becky Dus, Joe Loughlin and Cathie Rod.

Social Chairman, Becky Dus gave an update on the Recognition Social for the June 28 meeting.  So far 72 responses have been received.  Becky detailed set up of room and lay out of food. Set up will be the day of the event. In Richard’s absence, Shirley will do the program and hand out the various awards. Details of the program were also discussed.

Vice President, Shirley Waggoner-Eisenman stated the invitations for the 07 NC State MG Conference in October should be received the beginning of July. Participants need to reply quickly to secure a spot in the various tours offered.
Shirley asked about the BCMGVA web site as updating and how long information is kept on the site and suggested deleting past events. Another questioned raised was the blog and why information is pulled apart. It was thought this might be easier for web master, Lisa Miner to write and link to other web sites.
The issue of membership cards was raised and Joe Loughlin will continue to create a card for every member.

Coordinator, Charlie Spencer has scheduled two MG classes for 08 in case the volume of interest is the same as this year. The date for the 08 Recognition Social will be set later and December 11, 08 will be the Holiday Social.
An updated list of all BCMGVA members should be ready in July and all 07 class members e-mail addresses will be included for receipt of the newsletter.
Milton Coleman a former Director of Brunswick County Extension will attend the next BCMGVA board meeting to discuss setting up savings accounts with state. This would allow funds to receive interest and the state would take care of the tax reporting.
Funds for the new storage shed at the greenhouse area are coming from the restitution program and BCMGVA. Inmates will help with this project which will include shelving in shed and additional gravel as needed.
There will be summer a plant sale for the county employees to sell of annuals, etc. on July 13 & 14th.
October plant sale dates changed: October 4, 5 and 6. Ash will announce at general meeting.
Guest speaker for August meeting has been arranged and announced shortly.
Work crew at Belville Elementary completed the project with some follow up in the fall with purchase of plants. Leland Elementary will also be done in the fall.
BCMGVA members are attending County Farmers Markets dispensing verbal and written information. Interest will be assessed to determine continuation of program.

Greenhouse, Ash Tyler will have a plant give away at the June general meeting. Maintenance of plants in greenhouse is on going.
Ash spoke about the funding for the juvenile restitution which is in doubt. Although funds from this program have been beneficial to the BCMGVA they are not crucial to maintain the association’s programs.

Treasurer, Al Smith stated the current balance is $10, 041.11. BB&T has started to charge an activity and maintenance fee which Al will address. This has not been done in the past.

The meeting was adjourned at 10:10.

Respectfully submitted,
Cathie Rod, Recording secretary
