Executive Board Meeting Minutes

The meeting was called to order at 9:00 A.M. with the following members in attendance: Dan Sokoloski, Alan Fitzgibbon, Ash Tyler and Charlie Spencer.

A letter from Billy Privette was read and will be included in the newsletter.

Dan and Becky will meet with Lisa concerning resolution of certain problems regarding the web site

Procedures for the recognition dinner were discussed.

Charlie has been in touch with Melanie Rich of the Boiling Spring Department of Recreation regarding a summer youth program based on the Life on the Farm format beginning June 20 for the 6 to 9 year old group. The 10 to 14 year old group will meet on June 29 - 30.Consideration was given to reaching youth in the public schools beginning in the fall. The methodology is in process.

An additional $172.00 from book and plant sales will be deposited. As of last week we had cleared $4,266.90 from the second plant sale. The balance as of May 26 was $12,677.

There now exists a power point presentation on Master Gardeners as well as a brochure on the Botanical Gardens.

Budget Highlights:

As of May 31 total income was $14,489.00

Chapter expenses as of 5/31 $ 1,077.00 of $5,700.00 budgeted

Project expenses: 665.00 of 8,950.00 budgeted

Items requested under revised budget:

Gardens $ 1,500.00

Tools 500.00

Greenhouse 1,500.00

Picnic equipment for Garden 500.00

Gift Certificates et al 150.00

Total 4,150.00

Charlie announced that Frank Blasich, propogation specialist will be here on July 28 to speak at the monthly meeting. Porpogation beds are now ready. Mr. Blasich will speak in the morning and we will work in the afternoon.

This opportunity will be open to the public. In the interest of time, our business meeting will be shortened. This event will be limited to 100 people.

Postage for the newsletter will soon become an issue due adding the new class of Master Gardeners to the mailing list. To date, $325.00 has been spent on postage. If necessary, additional funds can be taken out of the contingency fund or the web site fund.

A package of information prepared by Charlie was presented and favorably received. Kathy Walters is in the process of preparing a power point presentation.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
