Executive Board Meeting Minutes

The Executive Board met at the Extension Office on Tuesday, February 15 at 1:00 P.M. The meeting was called to order by Vice President Alan Fitzgibbon with the following members present: Hilton Holcomb, Ash Tyler, Alan Fitzgibbon, Linda Lemieux, Alfred Powell, Shirley Waggoner-Eisenman, Nancy Einbinder, Charles Spencer. Lisa Miner, David Barkley and Richard Boland.

Treasurers Report: Dues for the year is due. Charlie will notify those who are in arrears. This will apply also to those who are wanting in participation.

A letter of support for the Master Gardener Association of the Botanical Garden was read and signed by the Vice President. This letter is in support of grants which are being sought by the Director of the Extension Service. A copy of the letter is on file.

Lisa Miner gave an update on her work as Web Master. She is in need of input from committees and others who are engaged in projects in order to get more complete information on the web.

Nancy Einbinder raised a question about printing the newsletter on the web and also sending it out in hard copy.

Concern was expressed for those who might not be computer literate and would wish to receive the newsletter in the traditional way. This will be resolved when the web site is up and running.

Ash Tyler reported that the 1552 plugs received last week have been planted. The planting schedule is up to date.

Shirley Waggoner-Eisenman reported that the new Gardening by the Month in loose leaf notebook form is ready and for sale for $10.00. A number of these have already been sold.

Hilton Holcomb reported that the propagation beds are in place and ready to be used.

Al Powell reported that the Restitution project is making progress with a increase in participants.

Charlie Spencer reported on several matters, including:

Tree Give-away on February 22.

Pro Days at the Leland Industrial Park on February 23 and 24.

Plant Clinic at Walmart in Southport on March 12.

Lawn and Garden Show at West Brunswick HS on March 19 and 20.

Clean-up week is April 3-8.

Plant Sale April 14, 15 and 16.

All Day Seminar on May 13.

Maritime Day on May 23.

Life on the Farm (West End) at Indigo Farms May 19-20 and/or 26-27.

(Three of these four days to be determined).

May plant sale. Pre-sale on the 26th from 1PM to 5PM.

Friday 9AM - 5PM, Saturday 10AM -5PM.

June 23 Recognition banquet.

Mention made of further plans for the Botanical Garden and the Talking Tree Trail.

David reported on possible speakers for our general meeting in February , April and May.

There being no other business, the meeting adjourned at 2:30 PM.
